How To Wear the Patterned Short Trend

Patterned shorts are one of this season’s hottest trends. From tribal, to polka dots, to floral, to these sort of ikat Loft shorts there are lots of options for this trend. I wore this thrifted pair yesterday for my 24th birthday celebration at the Cleveland Indians’ baseball game against the Red Sox. I had a wonderful day and even got a few really nice gifts like this awesome Kate Spade bag! Since it was my birthday I wanted to look cute but casual enough for the ballpark so I stuck to shorts and a tank. I love this trend, but if you’re a little hesitant to go ahead and spend your hard-earned cash to snag a pair because you aren’t sure how comfortable about how to wear them, follow these simple rules:

1. Keep your top simple as to not compete with the pattern.

2. Wear complimenting colored tops for the same reason.

3. Accessorize with neutrals or metallic pieces.

4. If you’re pear-shaped like me, make sure they fit really well; also wear a pair of stunning earrings or statement necklace to pull attention up to your face.

What other tips would you have for wearing the patterned short trend? Would you like to see a more bold, pattern-mixing look with them?
