Hey all,

Just wanted to pop in a post a tee (since I didn’t really style it into and outfit for the 15 hour car ride to med school; and I’m posting on the road lol) that I am in love with from the Cleveland Clothing Company! They have cutest stuff for me to rep my hometown while at school and around my town when I’m home! Go to their websit ClevelandClothingCo.com to check it out or pop by their location on East 4th street downtown!

Kaleidoscope Print Maxi Dress

Hi Friends!

A few days ago I went to dinner and shopping with my two best friends and found this steal of a maxi dress on sale at Francesca’s. I was hesitant to buy it at first because it fit perfectly with flat shoes and I wanted to be able to wear it with heels. Well, I definitely think I made the right choice by buying it for that very reason: I was able to wear it all day with comfy flat sandals hopping from bridal boutique to bridal boutique helping a friend pick her wedding gown. It was probably the most comfortable thing I could have worn that day! Not to mention it was easy to get in and out of to try on bridesmaids’ gowns, as well. I’m now looking forward to wearing it with sweaters or blazers to make it a work-appropriate dress come next month!

A Little Leopard Romper

This outfit was a super quick outfit I threw on and took an even quicker picture of on the way to dinner on vacation on Hilton Head the other week. I’ve had everything in this picture for a while and they remain obvious summer staples even now (I literally don’t even know where the romper came from). Are you as enthralled as I am with my favorite leopard romper? Or are you not a fan of the trend?

Fourth of July in the Land of The Free

Hi Friends! Sorry I have been absent for almost two weeks but I actually went on vacation for the first time in a long time. I went to Hilton Head with my family to celebrate my last summer break before I start medical school in the fall; and concluded the trip with a weekend in DC! I will sharing pictures from the beach part of the trip soon, but thought my Independence Day-inspired outfit that I wore in the capitol was more appropriate for this week. The skirt is the same one from a few posts ago (<a href=”https://blousesbaublesblush.wordpress.com/2014/04/27/what-goes-around/”></a&gt;) and the ‘top’ is an old borrowed dress from my big sis that was too short so I threw the maxi skirt over it. Voila! Problem solved! What do you think of my solution? What are you doing to celebrate the 4th of July?!

White-Hot Trend: White on White

Hi Friends!

I’ve had my eye set on the white-on-white trend for over six months and have been dying to get a chance to wear it! It was cool all throughout winter with winter whites but is even hotter now that summer is here. To avoid looking too much like the Michelin Man, I tried to keep some definition in the ensemble by including neutral shoes and metallic accents like the buttons on the capris and necklace. Also, I made sure to keep an eye out every time I sat or ate something; nothing’s worse than staining white clothing. What do you think of this look: white-hot? or white-not?

Tribal Maxi Dress + How To Shop without trying clothes on

Happy Hump Day Readers!

I recently scored this dress off the 70% clearance rack at Nordstrom Rack in Westlake. Normally I don’t buy things without trying them on but really wasn’t in the mood to exert the energy it would take to tackle the dressing room. So, because I was tired and lazy I bought it with the intent of returning it if it didn’t fit. Luckily it fit perfectly when I got around to trying it on two days later and I fell in love with it! I think the number one reason I like it (as I struggle with patterned maxi dresses) is because it has a long vertical line down the center of the skirt; thus, tricking the eye to make me look taller than I am. Score! And normally I would never suggest not trying clothes on, especially shorts or pants for those of you that might have a bum that is troublesome like mine. However, I guess if you need to buy before you try it:

  1. Stick to tops or dresses only.
  2. Know cuts and necklines that always look good on you.

  3. Make sure the store has a good return policy.

  4. Be willing to make the trek back to actually return the item if need be.

Have you ever done this before? What are your tricks to buying before you try something on?

Bohemian Midi Wrap Skirt

Happy Rainy Sunday Readers!

On gloomy, stormy days like today I like to wear things that make me feel happy and summery. Today I decided that that means putting on something fun and flowy so I can twirl around and feel a little boho. My super artistic godmother gifted me this cool bohemian skirt at Christmas and I’ve been waiting for months for the right weather to come. The skirt is meant to be worn over a dozen different ways and even came with a cool little pamphlet to show you how to twist and tie it to change it from a summer dress to a midi skirt and everything in between. I for sure will be posting again using this piece since it’s so versatile. However, this is the first outfit I came up with because it pairs so perfectly with this necklace my mom bought on a trip to Arizona. I love it because turquoise is one of my favorite stones and it feels so earthy. What would you pair with this skirt?

How To Wear the Patterned Short Trend

Patterned shorts are one of this season’s hottest trends. From tribal, to polka dots, to floral, to these sort of ikat Loft shorts there are lots of options for this trend. I wore this thrifted pair yesterday for my 24th birthday celebration at the Cleveland Indians’ baseball game against the Red Sox. I had a wonderful day and even got a few really nice gifts like this awesome Kate Spade bag! Since it was my birthday I wanted to look cute but casual enough for the ballpark so I stuck to shorts and a tank. I love this trend, but if you’re a little hesitant to go ahead and spend your hard-earned cash to snag a pair because you aren’t sure how comfortable about how to wear them, follow these simple rules:

1. Keep your top simple as to not compete with the pattern.

2. Wear complimenting colored tops for the same reason.

3. Accessorize with neutrals or metallic pieces.

4. If you’re pear-shaped like me, make sure they fit really well; also wear a pair of stunning earrings or statement necklace to pull attention up to your face.

What other tips would you have for wearing the patterned short trend? Would you like to see a more bold, pattern-mixing look with them?
